Due to the upheaval and turmoil of the last few years, at least in part, the nation is experiencing a crisis when it comes to mental health. The uncertainty of the pandemic, and all the anxiety that came along with it, with the cost of living crisis in addition, have made the start of the 2020s a challenging and difficult time for many people, and there is little wonder that so many are struggling and finding things tough.
Because of the large numbers of people who are struggling, as well as the fact that the NHS itself is also struggling, getting help when you are in need of it can be very difficult. However, there are things that you can do in order to help yourself or someone that you love when times are tough.
There are charities out there that can help you – Alastair Campbell, the editor of the New European is one of the people that has spoken a great deal about the need to improve mental health services and awareness, and talks about his experiences with his own mental illness. He is the patron of many mental health charities that could offer you some help and support.
Self care is also important – making sure that you are having your needs met can really go a long way – simple things, like taking time out to practice meditation, making sure that you have a healthy diet, and reminding yourself of your own worth are all part of good self care.
