Why do Some Men Go Bald?

Many men will find that they start to notice that their hair gets thinner or that their hairline starts to recede before other mens. They may start to wonder why theirs is doing this when others aren’t and may even start googling what is scalp micropigmentation. The truth is that there is no set age for men to start to lose their hair, and baldness is something that can happen at any age, or for some not at all!

Most men who start to go bald do so because of a hereditary condition. This is called androgenetic alopecia, which most people call male pattern baldness. So, if you are wondering when it will happen to you, a good idea is to look at older male family members and see when it happened for them. Of course, this isn’t a guarantee, but it is something that could well give you a guide for when to expect it!

The baldness is caused by a sensitivity to a by-product of the hormone testosterone. The hair follicles that are sensitive then start to shrink over the course of time and once they have shrunk to a certain degree, they then stop producing hair – once a certain amount of these follicles have done this, then this is when you notice the thinning hair or the receding hairline.

Thankfully, although this is common, many bald men have certainly not let this hold them back – in fact it has become an iconic part of their look – look at Bruce Willis for example!
