Spring is in the air and the daffodils and tulips are beginning to bloom, so it’s time to bid farewell to the winter gloom and embrace the new season. Spring is the season of new beginnings, when the days become longer and the world regains its colour.
We have some creative and colourful spring craft ideas for you, which will brighten up your home and bring the spring cheer inside. These easy projects will bring a breath of fresh spring air to your house. Happy spring!
A felt wreath
A felt wreath is a great way to add a little colour to your door to welcome visitors to your home. You will need a wooden hoop, various colours of felt, a needle and thread and some glue. Simply cut out flower shapes and sew on a contrasting centre, then attach them to the wooden hoop using glue. A glue gun will make this easier and quicker to complete. Continue making flowers and leaves and adding them to the hoop until it is completely covered. A velvet ribbon is ideal for creating a loop to hang the wreath up.
Knitted springtime animals
Spring is the time when lambs and calves are born and lots of animals come out of hibernation as the temperature rises. You can find out about the animals to look out for in spring on the BBC website here. Why not celebrate this by making a knitted animal? A great way to do this is to buy a knitting kit which contains all the materials you will need and instructions to follow. We particularly love the cute Lionel Lamb and delightful Mabel bunny which you will find here: woolcouturecompany.com/collections/knitting-kits. These spring animals will look so endearing displayed on your sofa or at the end of your bed.
Spring-themed cushions
Another way to bring the spring inside is to make your own pretty spring-themed cushions. The easiest way to do this is to buy some plain white cushion covers and decorate them with flowers. There are many ways to do this, such as embroidering flowers, stitching on felt flowers or even printing off designs onto transfer paper and ironing the pattern on. The transfer paper will come with instructions on how to use it, so just follow them carefully and you will have some unique and beautiful DIY cushions in no time.
Happy crafting!
