Getting a good night’s sleep is something that many people struggle with – however, this doesn’t have to be the case! Your bedroom could be affecting your sleep, and there are lots of things that you can change in your bedroom to help you make sure that you are able to improve your sleep quality and enjoy all of the benefits that a good night’s sleep can bring.
Here are some things that a bedroom needs to promote good sleep…
A Comfortable Bed – If your bed is uncomfortable and your mattress is lumpy and leaves you in pain every morning, then this is the most important thing to change! Look for a good quality mattress that will benefit you rather than hindering you!
Your bedding also needs to be suitable, so make sure that you are using the right tog duvet for the temperature of the room.
A Tidy Room – If you are sleeping in a room that is cluttered and disorganised, then you are going to feel stressed and find it harder to switch off! Have a clear out and get rid of things that you don’t need, and also look at ways that you can improve your storage. If more storage space is needed, look at ways that you can improve this, such as having bedroom furniture made to fit your room from somewhere like this bespoke wardrobes Hampshire based company lamco-design.co.uk/bespoke-fitted-wardrobes
Low Lighting – Lights that are too bright will cause your brain to wake up and be alert – the opposite of what you want when you are trying to get some sleep! Softer lighting is better suited for a bedroom – this also goes for screens too. Watching television or using your phone in bed will stop your brain from going into sleep mode and could actually keep you awake longer.
Soothing Scent – Certain smells help our brains to relax and calm down – most famously, lavender, but there are others too. Sleep sprays and diffusers are ideal for using in the bedroom if you want a scent that is going to help you sleep. You can even make your own lavender bags to hang around the room or keep under your pillow.
