At around 10:41am on the morning of Friday August the 5th 2022, a three-vehicle crash on the northbound carriageway of the main A3 caused a van to overturn and seriously injure one person. The busy road between Guildford and Milford was then subjected to hours of delays and motorists were caught in three miles of traffic jams. The fire brigade, having arrived at the scene, immediately put sand onto the fuel that had spilled during the serious incident. Once the scene had been made safe, specialist Chemical Spill Kits may well have been used, supplied by a professional company such as hydepark-environmental.com/spill-response/spill-kits/chemical
The accident continued to cause disruption well into the afternoon and David Bradshaw a newspaper reporter at the scene confirmed the major traffic disruption and added that the van had since been flipped back onto its wheels after ending up on its side. Apart from the fire brigade the police and ambulance services also attended the scene and helped care for the injured person who was taken off to hospital.
The accident caused debris and an oil spill to damage the road surface and a number of serious issues regarding this matter had to be effectively dealt with before traffic could once again begin to flow. Statistics show that serious crashes such as this one are few and far between and driving is one of the safest methods of transportation.
