It’s pretty rare when planning a kitchen refurb to actively seek out beige, but beige is most definitely back and here’s how to style it.
Beige is timeless.
The reason beige is back is because neutral colours are timeless, blending effortlessly with every style and every season, and what is more neutral than beige? Nothing. Yet actually pulling off a beige kitchen can be a challenge as neutral colours have subtle undertones which if not carefully matched to the colour palette of the white goods, countertops and appliances in the kitchen, end up looking just plain wrong.
How to achieve timeless style
While calling in a kitchen refurb expert is a great help, you still need a clear picture in your mind of what you wish to achieve first. This is the time to create a mood board, to play with colours and spend time visualising your perfect kitchen.
Are you going for a warm modern look or more of an English country cottage style? How will you dress it up and what accessories will you display? Think about the appliances you use most and how you wish to present them. Consider the light in your kitchen, both natural and artificial, and how it will affect the appearance of your chosen colour.
Paint test patches directly onto the wall in big swatches to develop a true understanding of the colours and how they blend with the rest of your kitchen decor. While warm neutrals are most definitely in, you still need to put in the effort to achieve a superb outcome.
